Vega Ancestral House (Balingasag)

This is a most interesting house. Sculpted wooden atlases (known in Visayan as oti-ot) act as support beams to the second floor protrusion. This house belonged to the family of the mother of movie personality “Inday Badiday” and Philippine Daily Inquirer editor-in-chief Letty Jimenez Magsanoc who hailed from Balingasag (the late Maria Clara Vega Jimenez). However, it is wrong to refer to it as the “Jimenez House” because the Jimenez was just one branch of the Vega clan. It is locally known by its correct name – “Vega House.”
