Named in 1934 after Pravda — a Russian political newspaper associated with the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The newspaper was established by the Russian Revolutionaries during the pre-World War I days and emerged as a leading newspaper of the Soviet Union after the Russian Revolution. The newspaper also served as a central organ of the Central Committee of the RSDLP and the CPSU between 1912 and 1991.
