This section was originally a county road, later part of the first trans-continental route from ocean to ocean, The Lincoln Highway. Today it is known as Lincoln Way (City of Ames Street); CR-D41 (Story County Highway); US-69 (US Highway) and BR I-35 (Business Route for Interstate 35). From first numbering of US highways in 1928 until early 1970's when a bypass was built to south, this was known as US-30.
