Named after Sich Riflemen - one of the first regular military units of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic.
The old name - The Artioma Street, is a street in Shevchenkovskiy district in Kiev. It leads from the Lvovska Square to the Lykianovska Square. The length of the street is 1,75km. Here are the streets that are joined to it: Observatorna, Kudriavska, Nekrasovska, Gogolevska, Poltavska, Pimonenko, Turgenivska, Studentska, Tchernovola, Kravchenko, Glubotchitska, Degtiarovska, Melnikova, Kudriavskiy descend, Bekhteriovskiy side street.

The street appeared a few centuries ago as a part of Jutomyrska road, later on the Jutomyrska Street. During 1869-1925 the street had a different name – Lvovska – as it started from the Lvovskie Gates that were located on the current Lvovska Square.

During 1925-1929 the street had a different name; it was called the Lva Trotskogo Street, after a famous soviet political figure. The modern name appeared in 1929 after Fedor Andreevitch Sergeev (Artioma).

The metro station “Lukianivska” is on this street.
