Perch Proshyan street in Shushi. After the 2020 occupation of the city by the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem, it was renamed after Vagif Jafarov.
Perch Proshyan (Armenian Պերճ Պռոշյան) (1837-1907) - Armenian novelist, journalist, poet and teacher. He was also engaged in teaching activities in Shushi and Tiflis. Inspired by the idea of ​​founding a permanent Armenian theater, Proshyan in 1863, together with the artist M.O. He wrote novels: "Because of Bread", "The Apple of Discord", "Shagen", "Tsetser" (1889), many short stories and novellas, journalistic articles, translations, etc. Proshyan's main area of ​​observation is the peasant environment; he knows, like no one else, the life of the Armenian village and describes it with a humane feeling and visible sympathy for the people. Perch Proshyan died on November 23, 1907 in Baku.
