Route 5
Route 5 is a national route of Uruguay. In 1975, it was also named the Brigadier General Fructuoso Rivera highway in honor of the national hero of Uruguay. It is one of the most important highways in country, along with Route 3, connecting the capital Montevideo in the south with Rivera in the north on the Brazilian border, in doing so, bisecting the center of the country. The road is approximately 501 kilometres (311 mi) in length.
