Circular Canal.
This canal (locally called as Khal) originated from Hoogly river near Chitpur area, flows through many locality and area of Kolkata city, Salt Lake city, collecting waste water of the neighbouring areas and many smaller natural channels (Khal). The canal is known in many names depending on the locality it passes through (viz. Chitpur Khal, Ultadanga Khal, Beleghata Khal etc) and ultimately took the name as Keshtopur Khal or Kestopur Canal. Keshtopur Khal releases its water to Bidyadhari river.
