This short half-mile branch once served the Robbinettes coal mine but is now useful as the principal water feeder to this section of canal via the small stream running down from Oldmoor Wood. Open cast mining at Awsworth to the north has cut off the original main Nottingham Canal water feeders at Giltbrook and Moorgreen reservoir. -Trevor Rickard (www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1762597).
