Trent and Mersey Canal
Opened in 1777, its 93.5 miles (150 km) link the River Trent to the River Mersey (via the Bridgewater Canal). It is mostly a "narrow canal" with locks and bridges big enough for a narrowboat 72 feet long x 7 feet wide. However, east of Burton upon Trent, it is a wide canal with locks and bridges can accommodate boats 14ft wide.
