I want two words translated into every language
that Wikimapia supports:

1. City
2. Capital

City = شہر (shehr) Urdu
Capital = دارالحکومت (dar-ul-hakoomat) Urdu

I would appreciate it.

German: 1. Stadt, 2. Hauptstadt (both are feminine -> definite article "die", indefinite article "eine"). Have to be written with first letter capitalised also if not at the beginning of a sentence.

French: 1. ville, 2. capitale (both are feminine -> definite article "la", indefinite article "une").

I need to add, the tones I gave over the words is only to help to speak the sound, in reality you do not include them when actually writing them. I never write as such as I alwasy use the translated word such as city or capital if I am writing in English.

I dont need to say either of them in any language
I just want to cut and paste them from here to

I confirm mine, but concerning the French "ville" (city) please note: it is only written with a capital "v" if the word is at the beginning of the sentence. The same applies to both English words. If not at the beginning of a sentence, it should be "city" and "capital"

Russian:
City = город (spelt "'go-rat")
Capital = столица ("sta-'li-tsa"), all unstressed "o" ar "a" in Russian are somewhat fluent, pronounced like "u" in "bus" or even "er" in "teacher" (when "r" is silent like in British variant)
--------------------
Ukrainian:
City = мiсто (spelt "'mis-to") unlike in Russian, unstressed "o" is still "o"
Capital = столиця (spelt "sto-'li-tsya") - "l" is very hard in this case, whereas "ts" is very soft
-------------------
Byelorussian (also Belorussian, Belarusian):
City = горад (spelt "'ho-rat")
Capital = сталіца (spelt "sta-'li-tsa")
------------------
Lithuanian:
City = miesto (spelt "'miesto"). "i" and "e" are pronounced almost like one syllable
Capital = sostinė (spelt "sos-'ti-ne") "e" is very narrow here, almost like "ä" (a umlaut) or first "e" in "sehen" in German.

However, Bloodless may corect me if I'm wrong in the last case (but I think I am not :-)))

Is Bahasa Indonesian and Basa Sunda written using
the Roman apphabets (like you have written)?

If not, please write in the appropriate script. Please
see all the examples given above in this topic.

ArnoutSteenhoek, what is this:

Where did you get that from? Did you say Wikipedia? I have to have a look. Nothing resemble the correct word.

I think I understand what ArnoutSteenhoek listed above.

The first line is indeed the character of capital, but I have no idea what the zh-yue means. It is not the pronounciation of the character. The Chinese character in the second line [first bracket] is the same as capital. In the second bracket is the character of city. Again no idea what the zh-yue means. In the third line it is the simplified character of a town.

In here I need to clarify. There are now two different scripts of writing Chinese character. Sometime in the 50s the Chinese Communist Party simplified a lot of the writing scripts. These are the characters used in Mainland China nowadays. For me who was educated in Hong Kong and many overseas Chinese (excluding those who came out from mainland China), we continue to use the traditional scritps. Personally I prefer that, as the traditional Chinese scripts is originated from the 'physical representation'. When you look at a character, we know what it means and where it comes from. But since the simplifed version is in use, a lot of the original meaning had been lost which is a great shame.

But I still do not what the zh in the beginning of those character means.

To Jabir99: Thank you for asking.
Bahasa Indonesia does use roman alphabets as you said, and generally so for Basa Sunda. But some efforts done to uncover the original yet prehistoric script for Basa Sunda. I ever learn that for a while, but it is forgotten some now. :)

In Portuguese we say Cairo too.
Piramide (written Pirâmide) is pyramid.
I added a Portuguese description to Cairo. :o)

Thanks mmrolim74. That is what I had thought.

Piramide sounds like Pyramid and not Cairo. But someone had made the Portuguese entry as Piramide.
I wanted to make sure if it was correct.
