I thought, there may should be a topic about very interesting places in wikimapia, like this one in Europe:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=45.122831&;lon=-123.113689&z=19&l=5&m=a&v=3">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=45.122831 ... =5&m=a&v=3<!-- m -->

A firefox crop circle and what looks like a bunch of kid arrested? Very cool that it happened and was photographed at a perfect time. Also, this is from Oregon, about 35 miles SSW from Portland.

Veljkovic, the map in your post looks like it was set to View/Users map. I backed out for a better look and a bunch of avatars popped up... :o)

@stcraftie59:
I don't really understand your sentences:
"Veljkovic, the map in your post looks like it was set to View/Users map. I backed out for a better look and a bunch of avatars popped up..."
Could you write it in "simplier english"...:-D???

Ok. Top left, next to WikiMapia, is "View". Put your cursor over view, and map and view options dropdown menu appears. When I opened the URL above, it was set to "Users map". When you zoom out from that place, avatars of users appear. A sample:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=48.208959&;lon=16.321274&z=18&l=0&m=a&v=3">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=48.208959 ... =0&m=a&v=3<!-- m -->

stcraftie59: avatars of users appear.

Thanks for pointing that out, I'd missed it too.
Anyway, "Users map" is mapping where the users are. If you go to your own profile and set your location, then your own avatar should show up in "Users map" view. (or at least I presume so, I haven't actually tried it, since I don't have a pic)

Just like this. A pity it shows everyone with an avatar... It would be great if it showed who was online.

Hey thanks Brad.

The Coffeyville stuff was nuts. I got up there that first day and was stunned by the extent of the damage.

This place is geographicaly interesting. I found and created this tag, "Geographical center of the contiguous 48 United States" using these tags as reference.

North: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=49.384262&;lon=-95.153227&z=14&l=0&m=h&v=2">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=49.384262 ... =0&m=h&v=2<!-- m -->
South: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=24.544381&;lon=-81.804467&z=17&l=0&m=h&v=2">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=24.544381 ... =0&m=h&v=2<!-- m -->
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lat=40.438766&;lon=-124.408858&z=15&l=0&m=h&v=2">wikimapia.org/#lat=40.438766&;lon ... =0&m=h&v=2<!-- m -->
East: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=44.815272&;lon=-66.95034&z=14&l=0&m=h&v=2">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=44.815272 ... =0&m=h&v=2<!-- m -->

I subtracted the southern lat from the north, divided the answer by 2, then added the answer to the southern lat. Same for west/east. This is where I ended up:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lat=36.963883&;lon=-95.679588&z=12&l=0&m=h&v=2">wikimapia.org/#lat=36.963883&;lon ... =0&m=h&v=2<!-- m -->

The so-called Old Town of Toruń. This city was one of a few major cities in Central Europe which were only slightly damaged during Second World War. Great architecture: cathedrals, churches, old town hall, medieval city wals, over 200 military objects from before WW2 (including several large forts surrounding the city), birth place of Nicolaus Copernicus.

From place description:
"Since 1997 Toruń has been one of the twelve objects in Poland, that were distinguished with the entry onto the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city owes its unique character first and foremost to its perfectly preserved historical buildings - gothic churches, baroque granaries, charming medieval tenement houses, many of which still look as centuries ago. Toruń is a place where past meets the present and science meets the culture. Charming old town encourages to walk the paths of European cultural heritage."

General view of Toruń:

*Repost*

We didn't post them here to be edited. Be a nice newbie and find your own, K?

Sorry, don't mean to be argumentative, but to edit someone's places with less than a day of experience in the forum is a bit too much, a little contemptuous (for me, anyway).

Find places near you, add them to WikiMapia. Check out places around you, edit if needed. The main thing? We are not here to edit, we are (IMHO) here to add places, describe the WORLD.

The best thing you can do? Read the posts that other users have made, post questions, ask opinions.

That's just my opinion.

I certainly hope no one thinks I am contemptuous of them. As my ID says - I want only to Help.

I see lot of discussion in forum about how much Quality counts. So, when I post something here as an "Interesting Place" I hope everyone will look at it and see it as an example. Everyone should feel free to Edit my entry if they can make it better. Then all the next peoples who come to the forum and look at what was my "Interesting Place" will also like the quality of OUR Place.

To that goal, I added the Wikipedia link where it was available, but missing, I added some photos, I made an English Page for a Russian only one, I added some good source links to other websites to some. My intent for each edit was to improve it - NO MORE, NO LESS. I like to hear from anyone if I made mistakes - I hope to learn from them.
