Here is a Temple or possible a house that could not be touched by the deepening quarry around it. The building and a tiny plot of land are left on a towering pillar of granite. A narrow pathway has been left for access atop a thin wall of stone. An arch has been cut through the wall for quarry vehicles. Consider the skill and extreme expense all this would take:

...yes you are right because i was tricked into believing that that place was tag and clicked it but it won't open; tried different categories still no red squares appear, until i zoomed out that the outline belongs to a bigger polygon, maybe this is the result of my long absence from WM. thanks there Ken for waking up my dormant brain.

I was in South Dakota, USA about ten years ago and came across a couple of similar bridges in Custer State Park...a fantastic road through the rugged terrain - U.S Highway 16a.

Here's two of them, one of which is encountered as you leave a tunnel blasted through a rock formation: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="old.wikimapia.org/#lat=43.8653711&;lon=-103.4353881&z=16&l=0&m=b">old.wikimapia.org/#lat=43.865371 ... 16&l=0&m=b<!-- m -->

Here's a website link with a photo of one of them: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="https://www.travelsd.com/Attractions/Scenic-Byways">https://www.travelsd.com/Attractions/Scenic-Byways<!-- m -->

Interestingly, they're both tagged with the same name...so looks like there's some research to do!!!! And tunnels to create...

To the south on South Dakota Highway 87 there's another example: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="old.wikimapia.org/#lat=43.6011291&;lon=-103.4945791&z=18&l=0&m=b">old.wikimapia.org/#lat=43.601129 ... 18&l=0&m=b<!-- m -->

Three in close proximity...but these are the only examples I've personally driven on in many travels across the USA

Looks like there's work to aligning the wikimap with the google map! I'll put it on my list... <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

could we use the river feature on this waterway as shown on the link since i think that is not a river but a canal, i presume it to be a manmade river?/canal and there is a 'canal category' but no linear features for canal...

[quote:4zlwfxy5]could we use the river feature on this waterway as shown on the link since i think that is not a river but a canal[/quote:4zlwfxy5]
How else could we mark a canal? This canal is 42 meters wide and 120 km long[url:4zlwfxy5]http://old.wikimapia.org/#lat=15.8463705&lon=78.0179004&z=18&l=5&m=b&v=8&gz=0;780182505;158478039;0;0;2467;2941[/url:4zlwfxy5]
It flows like a river; there are bridges over it like on a river; there's water in it like in a river, how else should we mark it on the map?

Canals can be marked with the [url=http://wikimapia.org/docs/River#Rivers:2peu3ek0]river tool[/url:2peu3ek0]. I'm guessing the [canal] category is a remnant from the days when almost everything had a category. It should be removed like the [river] category.

Six years Teresa marked this lake. Since then the glacier has retreated a full 1.6 kilometers (one mile). An example of Global Climate Change.

Athabasca Glacier in Columbia Ice field in the Canadian Rockies is another example where it currently recedes at a rate of 2–3 meters per year.

Just West of there if you compare the level 12 and level 13 images you can see the end of the Columbia Glacier has retreated 600 meters between the time the two images were taken.

Thimble Islands, Connecticut....people have homes on these islets only accessible by boat. Sale prices are high and they are quite coveted! My ideal retirement location!
