| My name is peter, I used to live in Kirup, my father told me about this crater, he thought it might of been a old volcano, but it has all the charateristics of a impact crater, in the winter it holds water |

This might be a little better for that elongated seashore: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lat=30.3211741&lon=-87.307148&z=9&l=0&m=b&v=1&show=/5237073/Gulf-Islands-National-Seashor">wikimapia.org/#lat=30.3211741&lo ... al-Seashor<!-- m -->
Another long and narrow thing is this: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=8.7841025&lon=76.6813946&z=18&l=0&m=b&v=6&search=home">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=8.7841025 ... earch=home<!-- m --> If I read it correctly this ferry service is human powered; rowing or pulling on ropes <!-- s:o --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_surprised.gif" alt=":o" title="Surprised" /><!-- s:o --> |

I have to love the dark humor in a name like this; Remora Asset Management Solutions. A remora is a fish that attaches itself to a larger predatory fish, like a great white shark, and lives off of the scraps from the larger predator's killings. |

A beautiful scene for city planners and Engineers. A ferry line which could date back to pre-history, a semi-permanent pontoon bridge which practice dates back to Roman Times, and a quite modern bridge under construction. Three classic solutions to the same problem all in one image. |

I created this thread to honor people who created the best "corridors" and areas in Wikimapia, the best-mapped overall. I consider "places" to be better than road mapping, so please keep that in mind. Also, obviously, no city is perfect, so that's we're working on small microcosms of a city. Please also indicate the user(s) that largely made the area possible. So here's two of mine
Bay Area Boulevard (jdw7337) <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lat=29.5399538&lon=-95.1438278&z=16&l=0&m=b&search=baybrook%20mall">wikimapia.org/#lat=29.5399538&lo ... ook%20mall<!-- m -->
While far from perfect, I appreciated the neat property outlines and the naming of every major big box store and restaurant.
Ford Road (KGB1313) <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lat=42.3252256&lon=-83.3394742&z=15&l=0&m=b">wikimapia.org/#lat=42.3252256&lo ... 15&l=0&m=b<!-- m -->
KGB1313 has made plenty more of Michigan "corridors", and his detail is outstanding (as well as the history of such places!). Give him a good vote. I know I did! |

I personally think this is a very subjective view.
Not sure how the measurement or yardstick of 'best' should be based? |

That is different. Interesting places are for those places we find unique that are marked or for quirks in the map...citing "best marked" areas is ok as long as it points out aesthetics, but in the long run, I think you will find is won't be "subjective" as you say <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) --> |

| Crazy. I discovered the damage myself while looking for still "Old Places" from the polygon map. The tornado missed the downtown area (Route 66!) but decimated the southern area...the high school, the hospital(!!), the Wal-Mart Supercenter, a bunch of other strip centers and retail, and blocks and blocks of homes reduced to rubble. |
