| P.S. The above link should be copied and pasted entirely, otherwise it will not work - it's a minor Wikimapia bug (",_" characters are not recognized as a part of URL). |

| My husband says they let the reactor compartments sit outside in order to cool off, radioactively speaking, so they can continue disassembling them. I need a tetanus booster shot just looking at those wrecks! |

Folks,
This may have been discussed at some point in the past. If so, pardon my mention.
I've been fascinated by this for months: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=66.258011&lon=179.208984&z=10&l=0&m=h&v=2">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=66.258011 ... =0&m=h&v=2<!-- m -->
Anybody have any information? It's such a large area, and the water vapor northeast of the area looks a little odd (though, I suppose that could possibly be a natural cloud pattern captured at the time of the image).
Thanks. |

| To RAINGOD, the quote you mentioned above <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=50.387385&lon=-5.151279&z=16&l=0&m=a&v=2">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=50.387385 ... =0&m=a&v=2<!-- m --> is not in Wales, but in Cornwall. I am fascinated by it since I mapped it. I go to Cornwall a lot, and will be going there in over a week's time. I hope to be able to see it personally (if it is allowed civilian access), weather permitting. That part of the Cornish coast can be very windy and at times difficult to walk on the coastal path. I will report back anything I can find. All I know is that it is inside a training camp for all three services. |

Oops... my bad! I know it's in Cornwall, but somehow I wrote Wales. :-P
It looks like ordinary people can walk very close to the aerial site. You might have a good view if you go there.

| I have doubts about this explosion, in the north west there are more comparable phenomenons. |

The "explosions in Iraq" could be natural gas flare-ups from oil wells. I'm not an expert, honestly.
But it sure looks interesting... |

In Karachi, we have a place Lal pani (translated into English: Red Water) <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lat=24.816924&lon=66.996024&z=18&l=0&m=a&v=2">wikimapia.org/#lat=24.816924&lon ... =0&m=a&v=2<!-- m -->
What it is? I dont know
But Bard's finding is deep red... could it be a dump yard for old lipsticks and nail polishes? Just kidding. |

The ground in this area is hot - almost hot enough to boil water. It's been this way for a long time. It was first discovered in May 1938. The theory is that magma is flowing just under the surface.

Does anyone know what these are? I think they could have been oil storage tanks supplying the PLUTO petrol pipeline in WW2 which went across the Channel after D-day. I know they did pump oil/petrol from nearby Stanlow so it looks likely. I have three other sites nearby which I believe were also part of it.
Thanks for any help |

| I've since done a bit more research. Those four sites are almost certainly part of PLUTO, and the two sites which look like the remains where the petrol tanks were are almost certainly that. They would have been positioned some distance from the Stanlow refinery for security against bombing. One section of the pipeline ran south from near Liverpool (i.e. Stanlow), another part from Bristol. Apparently there were 1000 miles of six inch supply pipeline in the UK feeding the two inch cross Channel pipes, of which I think there were six. I know it ran through Oxfordshire, and that some parts of the steel supply pipe in the UK still survive. I wish I knew where as I would love to see some. Any ideas? I understand (this may not be true) it was all laid in one day!! Apparently the Nazi's knew nothing of it at all! It was always called a 'cable' in case memos should leak out. The cross Channel part was always laid in the dark at night. Amazing feat! It carried over 170 million gallons of petrol after the D-Day landings. |

| Unrelated directly to a Wiki site, but linked in some way to PLUTO, I remember my Father telling me vehicles for the D-Day landings were parked up even as far North as the Northwich Bypass, a good 200 miles north of the Calais coast. He lived in Northwich and could remember this clearly. What a colossal operation! Also the Mulberry 'harbour' was a great significant factor. Some remaining bits of Mulberry are on Wiki off the French coast |

| x-Toryu, I really like your wrecked frigate! I have been looking for some wrecks, but often just a very short distance off the coast the resolution of the photos becomes too bad. Well done! |

| I will try to add better descriptions, at least to some of them. Some others must be translated. Whole area must be corrected. I'm working on it, but now I'm focusing on fighting vandalism. Some of them are awesome. |
