If you zoom in you will see what looks like a closeup of water and waves.
So I'd guess that they were parts of some image scan that Google forgot to eliminate. |

NORTH KOREA MYSTERY / COMMENTS WANTED.
This North Korean site is tagged "Centrifuge facility": <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=38.3015228&lon=126.6105652&z=16&l=0&m=b">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=38.301522 ... 16&l=0&m=b<!-- m -->
The tag appears speculative to me, but there ~is~ a photo included which resembles the sort of WMD graphics maps provided by GlobalSecurity.org and/or FAS.org, which are fairly reliable.
Well, far away (near Hamgyongnamdo / Toejo) I found this campus of buildings which had long intrigued me for being so new-looking and in such a good state of upkeep for North Korea. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=39.9115632&lon=127.7183604&z=16&l=0&m=b">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=39.911563 ... 16&l=0&m=b<!-- m --> I suspected some sort of official use, though I'm always wary of jumping the gun on North Korean sites since so many industrial and agricultural sites can look like "military" or "leadership" from the air ---and some users are prone to speculate too much about such DPRK areas.
I try to not-call something military or nuclear or whatever until I have a preponderance of evidence. Don't want to attach undue significance to what's really a turkey farm or canal water pumping station.
Comments please: Is the first tag (Centrifuge facility) reasonable? Is my own new-found area similar enough to be another such site?
Again, the "Centrifuge facility" tag: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=38.3015228&lon=126.6105652&z=16&l=0&m=b">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=38.301522 ... 16&l=0&m=b<!-- m --> (alt url <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="tinyurl.com/dprk-nuke-spinner-1">tinyurl.com/dprk-nuke-spinner-1<!-- m --> )
My site with similar buildings: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=39.9115632&lon=127.7183604&z=16&l=0&m=b">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=39.911563 ... 16&l=0&m=b<!-- m --> (alt url <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="tinyurl.com/dprk-nuke-spinner-2">tinyurl.com/dprk-nuke-spinner-2<!-- m --> ) |

I have no opinion about the 1st tag, but for sure the second site is extremely similar. Not just the red roofs, but the number and shapes of buildings: - One set of 5 long buildings (arranged slightly differently, but still 5) - Two sets of 3 buildings (two of which are connected), one with longer buildings than the other. - One separate single building - - All the above with what looks like a gate and gatehouse - One set of two buildings with 4 silos attached to the larger and farther down (up?) the road (in your case, by the dam) another two groups of very similar buildings
I'd say the similarity is looks, and probably function, is striking. |

| It is strange that it is so close to the border. The American equivalent: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lat=37.112316&lon=-88.810773&z=15&l=0&m=b&v=8&search=uranium">wikimapia.org/#lat=37.112316&lon ... ch=uranium<!-- m --> is about as far from Canada, the Gulf, and the Atlantic as you can get. It was found by a Finn opver a year ago. |

Well, Ken, it's not exactly secret when it has a Wikipedia entry. I do, however, think it is interesting that the "Google Map" layer makes no mention of it. |

| Hee, Hee. On that map it is a "Wildlife Management Area". I found it only by trying to complete the "City of New Orleans" rail line and a spur line led to it. |

A star of David located in the airport of Tehran
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=35.6963667&lon=51.3188419&z=19&l=3&m=b">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=35.696366 ... 19&l=3&m=b<!-- m -->
It seems that the star (and the airport) was buit by engineers of Israel, but until now nobody saw that star! It is said in the news that the start will be removed in few days |

Here is an "interesting place" - - looks like these two roads do not get along with each other. Maybe there was a "war of the roads" sometime in the past?? They have obviously "rejected" each other.

That's weird! You can see how the tower 'leans' towards the bottom of the screen and the vertical supports just fade out into a photoshopped blur. Makes you wonder what it says on the top of the tank. Have you checked Yahoo and/or Bing to see what they show? (Although my guess would be ... the same.) |

What is this strange pattern running thru the fields? <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lat=3.8424173&lon=100.9829378&z=15&l=0&m=b&v=8">wikimapia.org/#lat=3.8424173&lon ... =0&m=b&v=8<!-- m -->
Is it the remnant of a dried up river? Looks man made in parts. An intoxicated farmer operating the tractor? Rajurout's roads?
... and why has my internet access become so slow all of a sudden? This is so strange. |

I believe that WM is getting slow. Everything else, for me, works like a champ. WM takes forever. |

| @kencummings: Google Maps mentions "Gar Talit Fort 1634 A.D." No hits for "gar talit" when googling. But in my opinion, it could be a fortification indeed. |
