I could not understand what those black circles around the homes stand for! Any idea?

Earth walls with openings to go in and out of the circles. Protection during the night when some kind of door is closed? You found these structures also else in this region?

Dirk you are very close.
They build a wall with rocks around their plot and put thorny bushes on top to keep their animals in and other animals out.
The dried wood can also be used for cooking.
As you see on the satellite image there is plenty bushes in the area.

IMO what 'Aldi1' has described is correct.
It can be nothing else than the protective wall.

Guys, it is a sandy area. Is it possible for the people to bring stones from far away just to put boundary wall around their homes?

And if we consider them earth walls, then why they are black unlike earth?

The wood on top!
I have seen the same thing in Morocco and the Sahara.
If they don't find stones as a kind of foundation they use thorny bushes only.
They use them to protect their fields too.
BTW-the area is not sand only like a desert.
This is more like a savanna in Africa. There is enough plants growing to keep cattle.

@Chilikov,

Those are reflections created by the Sun on the water where the waves have the right angle with the
camera lens from the plane that took the imagery.
The waves have obviously been made by the boats seen over there and/or the current of the river flow...

Yes Chilikov,
It is the reflection of Sun creating firework on water! (as described by Martin67)

There is one another place nearby resembling a map like impression
(white can be viewed as Earth & remaining part as seawater) :-)
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=46.4171211&;lon=48.0027437&z=17&l=0&m=s">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=46.417121 ... 17&l=0&m=s<!-- m -->

This can be confirmed from another landmarks nearby with reflections from vehicles parked as well as building roof, like :-)

Agree with Martin. In nautical terms, if the cause is wind, it is also called 'White Horses'.

Another observation would be, at Zoom 13, you will notice a different shade/lighting due to different photo source, camera angle, size etc. More important is the wake (boat heading for the jetty on the Western shore) generation seen, which itself is self explanatory - the root cause of the ripples on the water

thanks, st

User "ashishmnimkar" has tagged many hillforts in Maharashtra and included 171 pictures.
He had to climb up to all these places to get these great pictures.

Very timely find mapfan given the recent passing of Benoit Mandelbrot and his introduction of fractal geometry. That was the first thing I thought of as the image appeared. One of his original papers on the subject was map related;"How Long is the Coast of Britain?"

Not a really interesting place but for those who may be tempted I think it's not the right platform
to add such places on the map: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=-77.7241156&;lon=-68.7078739&z=15&l=0&m=w&show=/17712547/I-lost-my-penguin-here">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=-77.72411 ... nguin-here<!-- m -->

We'll find those places where ever they are added in the world...

Does anyone have a theory of how this came about? <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="wikimapia.org/#lat=-6.6472747&;lon=108.3248788&z=18&l=0&m=b">wikimapia.org/#lat=-6.6472747&;lo ... 18&l=0&m=b<!-- m -->
You can also see it in the Map Layer, and if you zoom out one level you get an entirely different display.

I can propose a theory.

When the last update quantified the inner modal transition registers of the 4th level cache, the graphics accelerator regressed to it's native resolution operators resulting in the severely transposed inner loops of the operating system shell.

In other words, something is screwed up.

They're just mangled question marks. The question marks aren't rendered correctly when they get too large because ... because of what Ren said. Yeah.
