thanks dirk! i know a lot of airbase and military features, but this thing is a mystery to me. any theories on these semi-circle D-shaped loopy roads/taxiways at iran's bushehr airbase/airport? <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=28.9313925&lon=50.8462822&z=18&l=0&m=b">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=28.931392 ... 18&l=0&m=b<!-- m --> |

thanks wik. yeah that was tedious polygoning. that site is the one of the iran nuke program's "where's waldo" puzzles for international inspectors. where are the centrifuges? oh one of these bunkers. good luck finding. or maybe in the other mountain cluster adjoining this one. we can't remember. have fun, IAEA.
here in-flight is a local aircraft keeping an eye on the westernmost area: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=34.9780542&lon=50.711233&z=18&l=0&m=b">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=34.978054 ... 18&l=0&m=b<!-- m --> (with nice 3-color ghost image out front from the usual motion-reflection interference with the optics) |

| About those D-shaped places. They look like they have thick and high concrete walls around them. There are some long freight trucks nearby as well as a surface-to-air missle site. If the airbase wanted to shelter ordinance loads in a hurry against near misses by dumb bombs these places might work. |

A sad case of form Not following function:

Of course the bureaucrats wanted to get road traffic across the rails without a grade level crossing but it is hard to imagine a worse way. |

| Well, I don't think that it is possible for an "at grade crossing" there. The rail line looks elevated thru that area. The real problem was they didn't go "under" the rail line or thru the hill, nor could they most likely. |

| A schoolmate of mine was offered a job in the early 1970s to do engineering at this Iranian nuclear facility. She judged it was not safe for her even under the Shah's rule. The features are probably mostly moorings. |

agree with ken.
the South-West three appears to be Buoys for mooring (nautical term - trot).
those close objects - no clue
could someone say what could be the depth in the area? buoys separated by about 300 mtrs could accommodate a ship of 80K to 1.5 lakh tons. |

| I always park my jet on my roof. Nobody can steal it there. Of course, I never leave the keys in the ignition, either. |

| There is no shadow of the plane on the roof or anywhere nearby to the north-west yet trees and other things cast shadows so this "plane" may have been painted there. So it is a permanent feature and gets to stay. Wanna bet the building belongs to an aircraft company? |

I'm certain it is a plane that was fortuitously photographed within the boundary of the roof - that is all.
As Martin67 has said, it is heading for the airport in the north-west. Also, note the shadow cast by the horizontal stabilizer on the fuselage below; this is consistent with the direction of the shadows on the ground. |

No, Ken will say the image is an old one the aircraft wasn't painted yet. Or the opposite it is removed.
Look the propellers are clearly turning, and the proportions are not correct either. The building measures 37 metres that thus not fit with the wingspan of the plane. It sits higher, so flying over the building to the nearby airport ;) |
