Google once blurred out the satellite imagery within this circle (probably at the request of the US Govt). It's no longer blurred out, but one square mile of desert has been scraped clean.

| ArnoutSteenhoek, that looks interesting, but it looks as though they are some sort of aerial surrounded by a round fence. The one I found doesn't seem to have an aerial, but maybe it did in the past. Useful hint, thanks! |

| The place in Arnout's last link is RAF Barford St John, which was a WW2 airbase and is now an RAF communications station. The three runways aren't used anymore. |

Martin67's last post is for Krakow, Poland, yet it is placed just north of Cuba. Very strange.
World / Poland / Malopolskie / Krakow, 8667 km from center |

| If you click on the "Move/resize history", then click on change made in 21/04/07, you'll see the mark in its original location. Really strange. Maybe a bug? |

| Well, 21/04/07 was back in times when vandals could move places as far from the original location as they liked... Not a bug, just a reminiscent of an ancient edit war :) BTW, the place is now correctly tagged at the original location and this floating theatre at the Cuban coast can be deleted :) |

Something strange happened... I made a search for "Teatr Łaźnia Nowa", and I found three results: * the "floating theatre"; * the original theatre, in Poland; * and the third result (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wikimapia.org/#lat=89.189709&lon=-115.3125&z=15&l=9&m=a&v=2">www.wikimapia.org/#lat=89.189709 ... =9&m=a&v=2<!-- m -->) points to nothing, I cannot see neither the map! I think I found the Wikimapia "Bermuda Triangle"! :o) This occurs only to me? |

That is the "North Pole".
I believe Robacto (I hope I spelled that right) was talking about "cleaning up the poles...

"I believe Robacto (I hope I spelled that right) was talking about "cleaning up the poles..."
- center your view at Greenland and switch to "deleted places" :D
"I'd never noticed that there is no limitation to move the map up and down. :o)"
- once there was a bug which prevented users from deletion of places moved outside the map. |

| A question- if you move the place, do the coordinates change? Seems like it does. I've never checked. |

This is the Rossville Boatyard, a semi-active scrapping site for several ships of all ages off Staten Island, NY. As was the custom years ago, the ships were just run up on the mud and left to be picked at as their materials were needed. The post has a link to some amazing photos of the former ferries, tugboats and fire boats that are currently rotting away at the site.

I've been looking for this place for a long time, and I finally found it just a few days ago!!! This is the Nobeyama Radioheliograph. It's an array of 84 tiny radio telescopes. Follow the link to the photo. It's worth looking at.

Actually, I'm really just looking for an excuse to bring this topic back to the top of the forum list! :-D |

This could be a silly answer but there is a High-metallic tower at the top North-West corner of the tag and maybe the owner of this yard thinks that by putting these marks on his field, the pilot of the next small airplaine will see the tower ?! Or maybe he's just an artist... |

It's an HF transmitter site and satellite of RAF Croughton. |

I found this while looking for NAVFAC Barbados. There's what appears to be an antenna pedestal base in the NW corner of the site. Any ideas on the facility's name?

Has anyone ever thought that a place could have "F***ING" as a name. I thought it was vendalism, but there is a picture to prove that it is indeed name of the place. www.wikimapia.org/#lat=48.066982&lon=12.862287&z=14&l=4...
Please check out this place.
If I am wrong, and this is not the name of this place, I ask you all to correct it. If it truly is the name of this place, it is amazing and amusing name. |

| Well well well, can't say they don't have a sense of humour and they seem to be proud of the fact it is a tourist's attraction! |
