I doubt Jabir or forrest have the equipment to do that...

Funny. I watched a story on BBC about 2 geezers that made the 'original' crop circles. Long before the idiot movement started.

"Are they settlements?"

Quite common in many countries - house/ hut and garden/ farm land fenced or protected by hedges.

Apparently, google keeps some (or all?) of us out at the moment. I have the same problem like vikasv currently with every link.

So if you have an intact tab with the map open, try to "walk to" the coordinates given in my link instead of clicking it...

Just what I said: google produces a javascript error and nothing works. Not sure whether this is related to the current WM update, a simple modification in google's main api or even on google kicking WM out entirely.

I can confirm that Google Earth is still receiving our updates - in near real time. I just added something in WM and within a few seconds it showed up on GE.

Yes, I see now, but when I made my previous post it was after following a link to new tab, which worked fine then.

@ amspost!!
dear i came to know that such images are not satellite but aerial..they are taken by G.P.S with their co ordinates and then placed just at those places...
im just copying one of W.M user's remarks about such images...sorry for length but it really explains a lot..
"this is aerial picture
not satellite one
I once saw same type of picture where all people the people had raised their heads upwards
because the air plane taking the picture was making noise
and the people were seeing the airplane
i also saw picture, like this one, showing a heard of camels
it was good"

when i questioned tht person tht how can we differentiate between an aerial and satellie one he syas..
"Well, I cant say with certainity
but this zoom level can only be available to the govts
taking the satellite pictures
i think somewhere i read
that a certain accuracy is the maximum limit which could be offered to the people
it was like 21 feet to an inch or something like that
if a picture is zoomed more than that, it has to be a picture taken by an airplane or a helicopter

had it been a satellite image, the whole area would be in greater detail than this"

@amspost, 500 images from the National Geographic Africa Megaflyover project were imported into the Google Earth imagery database. Google Earth images routinely make their way into the Google Maps system, which is what Wikimapia is based on. You'll find these super-closeup images all over Africa (including Madagascar).

Here's more info:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/megaflyover/november/dis...">ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/m ... _0411.html<!-- m -->
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.gearthblog.com/blog/archives/2005/09/500_national_g...">www.gearthblog.com/blog/archives ... al_ge.html<!-- m -->

To find all of the pictures, install Google Earth and select the Megaflyover layer. Each picture will be marked on the Google Earth map by a red airplane icon.
