  • Empress Court, Laura (guest) wrote 10 years ago:
It is the belle époque front of the buildings on the former Queen's Road, now M.Karve Road, which are so beautiful with their art deco balconies so I wonder why only the back of Empress Court is marked.

I had an opportunity to re-visit Institute of Science after almost four decades. It brought back many good memories, especially of many good friends within that small student community of those days. Some of my good friends had joined UDCT along with me. Sandeep Nabar, Prasad Nabar, Rajendra Ghag, Suhas Gunishastri and Akshay Buch are the few names that come to mind. Great Institute, and wonderful students....

  • Mari Nagar, NRI from Marinagar (guest) wrote 10 years ago:
Mari (Mother Mary) Nagar is a catholic colony where one wishes to live at. Once upon a time before the development of buildings by 'Suraj Builders' it used to be a beautiful abode with many tress in front or behind each home a playground of dirt where you could play hockey, cricket, volleyball or other games. Where the doodhwala, pauwala, gollawala, dabhawala, channawala, kulfiwala and many walas would enter freely not forgetting the fishermongers all at your doorstep. Neighbours would fight and verbally abuse each other but were always there for each other in bad times. Unfortunately times have changed with the developments and so have the new residents. If only I could turn the clock back, but Alas.
