Ingangane power station (along with two or three others), were decommissioned in recent years because they had exhausted their life span. Even though the power station was "mothballed" the little village is still going strong, throbbing with life and activities.

Power stations - The place where electricity is generated from a raw form of fuel into power. South Africa has 26 power stations. Two more are in the pipeline Gas One, in Cape Town, which is expected to start providing electricity by the end of 2009, and Medupi in Mpumalanga, which will switch on by the end of 2012.
