  • I lived here for 3 years, like around 1953,4,5 or so. It was a great place to live, for sure, My dad was a lower ranking enlisted man, but our apartment had 3 bedrooms and two baths, with maids quarters on the top floor! There were still bombed out buildings nearby, one right across the street in fact. Great places to play...
  • Wow, Roy, I lived there from 1957 to 1960. We lived in a four bedroom apartment, with two bathes, and maid quarters on the fourth floor. Bombed out house on the corner, baseball field in the back, AYA building and school. Remember the school had no cafeteria because kids all came home for lunch? I have looked and looked for what happened to these apartments. Do you know of any better pictures? abbyjo2001@yahoo.com
  • I went to school there in 1973. Mr. Engler was my teacher...Great guy....
  • I was born in Worms and am still living there. Had some great fun playing on the playgrounds in there. Back before 9/11 nobody really cared if you came into the American villages and though Thomas Jefferson Village was closed in 1999 we still have some American villages around, but they have been closed for everybody but soldiers and their families after the attacks. Concerning your question about what happened to the apartments, they are in fact renovating some of the buildings since the early 2000s. For instance, an elementary school moved in in 2001 . The best for you would be to check out liebenauer-feld.de for some plans and photos of the renovated houses and westend-gs.de if you are interested how they made up the school. However, there is still plenty of free space as many buildings (especially in the village's northern parts) have been pulled down. Hope these information will help you. Cheers!
  • I lived there for sixth (1968) and seventh (MAHS 1969) grades and it is one of my fondest military dependent memories. I revisited in the mid 70's and most recently in 2006. In my last visit I was able to see the private redevelopment first hand. It happens that the developer works out of my former address 10 Kantstrasse. He was so gracious in inviting me inside to see how the old residences now look. The visit invoked a variety of emotions as I saw the school, teen club, the sledding hill, the big trees once climbed - big branches even named, etc. I just wished that I had spent more time exploring outside of the American community. I was shocked to realize how close it was to the bahnhof (hugh train fan). I was clueless about the location as I immediately sought a taxi after departing the train.
  • J.C. I believe our parents were friends and we got a long haired dashund from you. My brother's name is Glenn.
  • From 68 to 71 , my brothers and sister and I attended the elementary school , played at the AYA , had tons of friends who lived in the village , played on the baseball and football teams , Worms Wildcats ..lol .. • Hey Frank -- My Dad was stationed there at that time. Do you have a brother, Andrew? If so he and I were friends and schoolmates. You may have known my younger brother Mark. Nevertheless, it was a pretty fun place to live.
  • I was there around 1968 and it was wonderful. I remember the school and we did go home for lunch. Went to the AYA all of the time!
  • Hello! I was there myself (as a kid) from 1979-1980 went to school there :) I was 4-5 at the time, seeing the photos brought back some wonderful memories! -David M. Tyler, son of now deceased Master Sargent Jeffery S. Tyler who was posted there. (and took the family with him!)
  • Mr. Santoro, I believe that our families were friends. My name is Eddie Lessley. We lived in Pheddersheim in 68-69 and lived in Worms 71-74. I have a older brother named Danny and two little sisters named Monica and Missy. I have pictures of the Santoro family during that period. I believe that you were called Johnny. I also have very good memories of that place.
  • Mr. E taught me and coached my basketball team in '76. Super teacher and mentor.
