The ancient Russian village liquidated in 1982 because of construction of Cheboksary hydroelectric power station, settled down on the left river bank Volga, opposite to the town of Kozmodemyansk. The population moved in other places. Nevertheless, the become deserted village still remains a brisk place thanks to existence here operating parishional church, ferry transportation, passenger autostation and the big highway connecting Korotni with Yoshkar-Ola and other settlements of the republic.
