Theo Jansen (Den Haag, 14 maart 1948) is an artist born and working in The Netherlands.
Interested in the mechanisms of walking Theo builds skeletal organisms out of pvc tubing that actaully do walk by due to making use of wind. The first 'animal' he created was called Animaris, the animal of the sea. In Dutch the name is strandbeest. See his website on www.strandbeest.com.
Theo also writes a column for a well established Dutch newspaper the Volkskrant. Theo was featured on Ted (www.ted.com).
