Here during the 1946-1950 civil war, many Greek leftists were executed by firing squad, almost every day.
The death sentences were the Military in Lamia. Military judge, was Colonel GIANNOPOULOS, almost all decisions concerning execution sentences to death by firing squad at Xiriotissas the cemetery.
People gave him the nickname "quinine" because the convictions were bitter as the yellow pills of quinine (malaria pills).
