From 1930-1975 this huge complex served as the plant of Technicolor, where they perfected the 3-strip process for color movie film. They leased special equipment to the studios and closely supervised the shooting of color sequences, in order to control the quality of the color.
In 1975 they moved to North Hollywood (and have recently moved back to Hollywood taking up residence at the Sunset-Gower Studios).
Today it is the home of Television Center.
