These kilns, commissioned in 1970, each make about 2000 tonnes of cement clinker per day. Limestone is ground to "raw meal" in rawmills on the left. The raw meal is blended in the silos on the left before being fed to the 4-stage pre-heaters, where it is calcined. In the rotary kilns it is sintered to form clinker, which is cooled in the coolers on the right. The plant commenced operation in 1929, and before 1970 had five less-efficient wet process kilns.
