historical layer / disappeared object, lifeboat/lifesaving station
The Old Lifeboat Station was built in 1937 to accommodate the ever-growing needs of the lifeboat crews of the time. It was in active use until 1998, when the needs of the crew once again outgrew the facilities available, and a new station was built further along the coast. The building was a well-preserved example of classic 1930's architecture. The building was owned by a business selling ice cream to the public, sadly in 2009 the building got demolished by the Blackpool Council.
