U-22 was a German Type IIB submarine of World War II.She was commissioned on August 20, 1936. She was mainly designed for coastal work, a role enforced by her small size and endurance. She sank the tiny coastal cargo ship SS Parkhill off the Scottish coast. She sank on March 27, 1940. All hands were lost
