Elephant's Head

USA / New York / Malone /
 mountain, hill

Small hill with good views for the modest effort required. Dirt road, not shown on map, leads east from route #30. Its appox 1.5 miles long, with numerous overhanging branches protuding into the path, scraping the paint. Now crowning, its best driven in an old truck. The trail is under 0.75 mile from trailhead parking to an overlook on Elephant's Head. Easy enough for children. Someone has kindly lugged a chain saw up here to improve the view. Good views north to Titus Lake and Malone. Many hikes in the Adirondacks with similar views require much more effort. Trailhead has parking for three or four cars.
