From Doors Open Ottawa:
"Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church represents a harmonious blend of the old and the new. This tripartite, three-domed Byzantine structure featuring bold 1960s accents was designed by Basil Miska, who adapted a concept by George Kodak. Formerly known as Holy Trinity Bukowinian Orthodox Sobor, it was built in 1968 to replace an earlier structure located on Gladstone Avenue. Particularly striking in the light-filled interior are the frescoes and the many icons, especially the six large matching ones on the new iconostasis (icon screen). Also noteworthy are the church’s nine ornate chandeliers, the largest of which is 11 feet by 6.5 feet and bears 179 lights. The neighbouring Holy Trinity Hall is a former fire hall (Station No. 7), constructed in 1913. The lower level features magnificent pressed-tin ceilings, iconography from the original 1918 church building, and a display of photographs reflecting the history of both the church and the old fire hall itself."
