Town in Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Neyva and Alapaikha rivers. Population: 38,192 (2010 Census).
Alapayevsk is one of the oldest centers of ferrous metallurgy in the Urals with the first factory built in 1704. The town proper was founded in 1781.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky spent a part of his childhood in this city. Grand Duke Sergei Mikhailovich, Grand Duchess Elizabeth Fyodorovna, the Princes Ioann Konstantinovich of Russia, Konstantin Konstantinovich of Russia, Igor Konstantinovich of Russia and Vladimir Paley, Grand Duke Sergei's secretary, Fyodor Remez and Varvara Yakovleva, a sister from the Grand Duchess Elizabeth's convent, were brutally murdered by the Bolsheviks in a mineshaft near Alapayevsk in July of 1918.
