The gas field is estimated to have 123 TCF of recoverable reserve. This place is also the starting point of following natural gas and oil pipeline to Arzew, Algiers, and Skikda; and export gas to Europe through the following:
1. Maghreb-Europe also known as Pedro Durran Farrel Pipeline, 1620 km long 5 sections, through Morocco- Gibraltar -Cordoba, Andalusia, Spain -Extramadura, Portugal
2. Trans-Mediterranean also known as Enrico Mattei gas pipeline, 1067 km long, through Tunisia-Sicily-Italy then on to Slovenia.
3. Medgaz, a new 757 km gas pipeline direct to Europe through Beni Saf then to Perdigal Beach, Almeria, Spain. Construction started in March 2008 and expected to start operations in July 2009.
4. Galsi, planned new 1530 km (total) pipeline through Al Kala - Portoscuso, Sardinia where it splits. One leg going to Olbia, and the other leg to the Mainland through Rosignano, then connected to the Italian gas grid at Tuscany.
