Historic homestead. The house and some 6,000 acres of land were purchased in 1924 by a Trust set up to assist dependents and orphans of RN and Merchant sailors "who had lost their lives or had been wounded while serving at sea in the defence of the Empire".
A training school was established on the site, and for many years orphans from the UK were trained here in farming methods. The place is currently (2008) being renovated as a hotel and conference centre

  • The information on the site is wrong. The complex currently (2008) is being reinstated and the Vision is to reintroduce Experiential and Applied Training. The accommodation venture that was operating at the complex closed a number of years ago.
