The Federal Prison Camp (FPC) in Yankton is a minimum security facility housing male inmates. Most of the population are nonviolent drug offenders. The camp was established in 1988. Until December 1984, it was the site of Yankton College, established in 1881 as the first institution of higher learning in Dakota Territory.
