Clark Gable-Carole Lombard estate (former)

The residence of Gable and Carole Lombard former 30 acre estate, They bought a ranch previously owned by director Raoul Walsh, and moved here soon after marriage in 1939. After Lombard's death in an airplane crash 1942, Gable enlisted in the Army, and did not return to the estate until after WWII.

Gable lived there with his 4th wife Lady Ashley [1949-1951], and 5th wife Kay Spreckles [1955-1960] until his death in 1960. Ms. Gable stayed on here until the '70s.

In the 1980s the 30 acre estate was subdivided and sold in smaller lots, as the 'Clark Gable Estates.' The original Gable clapboard house still stands on large grounds in the center of a block, meandering behind a brick wall and the street-front properties, tucked away from the bustle of the Valley below.
