For a number of years the density of the city centre of the Dutch town of Almere has been gradually increased according to a master plan by Rem Koolhaas. One of the most interesting of the new projects realised in the course of this development is this apartment block called "The Wave" completed only a few months ago and designed by René van Zuuk. With its organically curved external skin that is structured almost like scales made of overlapping aluminium panels the building offers 49 apartments with an uninterrupted view of a lake. (...)
