Second World War 1939-1945, ruins, fortification, artillery battery

It was built in 1936-1939, its construction cost the Finnish state 950 thousand marks. Four concrete open caponiers were built with corridors and galleries inside. Four 152-mm cannons of the "Kane" system were installed in the artillery caponiers. Finnish masters modified the guns, which increased their firing range to 19 km. The battery was important for the Finnish army in the Keksholm direction. All the guns of the Kaarnayoki battery were dismantled and removed within a few days after the end of the Soviet-Finnish war in March 1940.
