I keep forgetting I'm in Brazil when I'm visiting Blumenau. Such German-looking folks speaking Portuguese; cobblestone streets; Bavarian & Baroque architecture everywhere; German food, music and beer; is this a dream? I really AM in Brazil! I grew up as an army brat in the south of Germany; this quaint town in the south of Brazil sure could have fooled me until I heard blond, Germanic-looking people speaking Portuguese and not knowing a word of German. This town is a MUST for those visiting the south of Brazil, especially all you Oktoberfest lovers and Deutschephiles!

It is a very beautiful city, I've seen this city in TV news during recent havoc flood n raining, this November 2008 flood and heavy raining ruined the city. I am sure the hardworking people of this city will re-develop this beautiful city. God Bless them all.
