The oldest ward of ckp situated on the bank of river Vijay.It was the Capital of Porahat State which revolted against the colonizers around 1831. It is one of the densely populated ward of chakradharpur. Most of the high profile educated people of chakradharpur are from this locality. This ward is also home to Rudra Pratap Sarangi, one of the social worker. Basti is also home to K. Tripathy principal of RPS Inter College. He is very nice man. Performance of his students keeps him happier than anything. Dr Sukant Tripathy (Brother of K.
