Caponga is located at the southwestern part of the municipality.

Long time ago, there were only few vehicles plying the Halsema highway. People from Northern Benguet and Mountain Province going to Baguio and La Trinidad have to hike. Hikers used to stop to rest in the area before finally proceeding to La Trinidad and Baguio City. From that time on, they called the place “KAPUNGAN” or resting place. As time pass, by the place was settled by hikers and become a community. From KAPUNGAN, the community terms it “CAPONGA”.
