Thornaby Town Hall lies in a prominent location on the A1130 at the junction Mandale Road and Railway Terrace in Thornaby, postcode reference TS17 6AW.

The building group concerned comprises of the Town Hall itself plus No's 3,5,7,9 Mandale Road.

Thornaby Town Hall was built in 1890-92. The brick and stone building has a grand civic scale and a prominent corner clock tower facing west towards Victoria Bridge across the River Tees to Stockton-on-Tees.

The Town Hall itself is grade II listed. The listing also covers numbers 3-5 Mandale Road. It is a building of intrinsic architectural and historic merit in a local and sub-regional context in the Tees Valley.

Once used as the administrative and municipal base for the town of Thornaby, various changes to the form and delivery of local government in recent decades has seen the use of the building change on a number of occasions. The current usage of the building is confined to a single room for the work of Thornaby Town Council.

Stockton Borough Council is committed to bringing this historic building back to life. The Council is seeking ideas & proposals from interested parties who feel they can offer a workable / viable solution or package for the long-term use of the building, thus securing its future for years ahead
