As the Gram Panchayat office,Electric Supply Office,United Bank,Sub Registrar Office and Post Office situated at Panchthupi village, the villagers avail all amenities. The cultivators cultivates their lands as the lands are situated beside the River Mayurakshi and the growing crops is placed to the Daily Market of this village for marketing. As Hindues & Muslim communities live in this village,so many Temples & Mosques are here like Gramya Debi Mandir,Singha Bahini Mandir,Baro Masjid etc.I am proud of this village.

  • Panchthupi is an ancient village in the district of Murdshidabad in West Bengal, India. Its name is derived from the words “Pancha Stupa” meaning Five Stupa-s, Stupa being the name of a dome-shaped structure constructed in the memory of, & often containing some relic of, Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhist religion. It is said that there were five Buddhist Stupas here more than two thousand years ago, but today nothing except a small mound of grass covered soil called “BARO KONAR DEUL” (meaning The temple with twelve angles) stands there. However, it is a sacred place, & holy for the lovers of History.

  • My name is Soma Chatterjee. I live near Chicago. My father Mr Pramatha Nath Chatterjee (PN Chatterjee - and also known as Dhanu-da) is from Panchthupi Dakshinpara. He was senior lawyer at Calcutta High Court. He went to TN Institution in Panchthupi. He moved to Calcutta in 1948 at the age of 16 after my grand father Pankaj Kumar Chatterjee (known as Khadu babu) passed away. Every year till 1976, our family would go to Panchthupi for Durga pujo. I went there last time in 1990. Mayurakshi river flows through this village and its a very beautiful village. We used to attend Durga pujo at the Adhikari family's kachari bari. I have very good memories of Panchthupi.
