  Blida is known as la ville des roses which means the city of roses. It is located South West of Algiers the capital at approximately 30 miles. The city was originally built by the maures, people that came from Andalusia south of the current spaign escaping from la reina Isabella who had chased muslim and jewish populations. Blida is located located at the mount chrea valley, known for its wonderful roses, green flora and wonderful vegetation. It is cold in winter with snow falls and quite hot and humid in summer. The humidity comes from the fact that the sea is about 14 miles from Blida as the crow flies. Permalink to this place
