If you have to go to a prison - Longuenesse is trhe one to go to. Cable TV, fridges, buy whatever you like on canteen - including computers. Good wages for working, no violence, and pleanty of English people. Give it a go.

  • I spent some time in Longuenesse prison, 7months on the floor in a cell made for one. the food was unedible the gaurds where ignorent and very openly Hated English people, there was Eight in total during my time and all bar one was in for drug smuggling myself included, the other was in for people carrying 12 chinese in a caravan. Some takeaway, I would not recomend it to my worse enemy.I will never slag British prisons or systems again, they are so far in front its hard to explain

  • Don't know what part of Longuenesse you were in John. I was there for 2 years and had a single cell, cable tv, fridge, cooker and computer. Wages in the kitchen were high enough for me to save as well as live comfortably. Visits were held in a room where you were alone with your visitor, and were used by many of us as conjugal visits. I have been to many english prisons, and the only advantage they have is that you are in your home country.

  • I spent time at longeunesse..about 14months..in 2003/2004'plenty of English,we all seemed to have money to burn,,I worked as kitchen staff,ultimately cook,,,barber,a real sinecure office,,,all in all a nice prison as prisons go...I also spent 16 months at the prison at LOOS..at ave du train de loos,,now closed. Look that up on the net..very different. Also whilst in Germany I spent 19 months in a cell with no windows .longeunesse is not so bad
  • i been to there at 2013 full rabbish prison there is tv yes but you sleep 3 people in the cell one of them to the floor very high secure prison,i someone else reading the latest comments will think about that like hotel but its not,on the date to release you its possible to still your money id card wallet or whatever expensive you have it,the food is shit as well

  • its not how you speak,u talked like as for hotel,its full of racist,never get response for something mportant,sometimes its possible to dont get your cantine or to dont get that what you order,also that fridge which its quiet possible to buy you dont have where to put,most of the time you are 3 people on the cell and one have to sleep on the floor,so space for frigde......about the TV yes its have with cable,about job you really have to have long sentense,also its private prison with very high security.but depend of how you live inside the problems are too low this is the good point,and in the last...in your release day its 95% possible the bodyguards to steal your wallet money ot something expensive,and if you have id card and passport may be the will give you back just one of them and when you ask they will say sorry no speak english and that is,and in that time you are inrush to go out and dont think about nothing :)

  • If you can find out his prison bank details ....IBAN number etc .You can send it through your bank...nat west do it and charge £10 to send it..other banks do it but charge more........

  • If someone you know or love is an “unexpected” guest at Longuenesse Prison please understand that it may be up to 3-4 weeks before you hear from them. It’s not their fault as it takes ages for permission to be allowed to call you ( no free call like in uk after arrrest, probably got no money for a stamp etc. The British Embassy in Paris will be pretty useless as they can’t discuss the detained person with you, no matter who you are or your family relationship, without their written permission. Everything takes ages & it’s very frustrating. Be patient & try to send th money by bank transfer only. You need their IBAN code & prison number
