The mandir premises comprise a few acres of forest area with rare species of medicinal plants gigantic trees and wild creepers- running all over the jungle(said to be brought from Assam), is inhabited by monkeys, swans, peacocks, mongoose, varieties of lizards and butterflies and many other smaller animals and insects. The forest is so dense that it remains dark and cool even in summer days. People throng in 100s of 1000s to this place in the Puja festival from all over the neighbouring places of the district and the state as well. Animals like goats and buffaloes are sacrificed on Navami in Durgapuja to satisfy the Goddess, as it has been the age old custom. It is a favourite haunt for picnic too. It is a famous tourist place in West medinipur.
