India / Bangla / Bishnupur /

Mallorajas built huge reservoirs for their water supply in Bishnupur district. These ponds are said to be dam because they were made from cuttings in one particular way. The name of Jamuna Bondh, Kalindibandh, Shyambhunda and Krishnabandh have been given by the influence of Vaisnavism, some of the dams are also given in the name of the dynasty, such as Lalbandhi in the name of Lalbai.
The name of this insect was named after Mallaraj Bir Hambir - Bir Bandh. For some reason, due to this insect being insect in the water, he was called Pokabandh - which continues to this day. (Formula - Amar's story of Bishnupur is found in the books of Bishnupur.)
