The former Carlton Cinema, designed in 1932 by Robinson & Keefe, opened 1937 to replace an earlier cinema that had been heavily damaged in the Easter Rising and the Civil War. It closed in 1995 and in January 2003 was compulsory purchased by Dublin City Council.
