The entire complex stands on a land area of 80,000 m2 (860,000 sq ft) on Luneta Hill on top of Session Road overlooking historic Burnham Park and opposite Baguio's City Hall which is situated on a northern hill.

The mall was formally opened on November 21, 2003. It is also the first SM Supermall which does not use an Air-conditioning System. The mall is the only SM Mall ,other than the SM Mall of Asia, that make use of natural lighting and which does not have an air conditioned common area. The site of the mall was once occupied by the Pines Hotel, which was burned down.

  • The culture of the highlands is pretty much alive, adapting to the changing times. I believe if you go look for culture in the Malls, you will find some representation. But Baguio is not just about malls, it is a gateway to the higher provinces... a melting pot of varied cultures.
  • the shape of SM CITY BAGUIO is unlike the other malls here in the Philippines!! :) .. instead of putting air cons, they spend their money in ways that they can maintain the beauty of the mall .. it is pretty cool that tourists enjoy fresh air here in Baguio :)

  • yes, i agree with both of you but the sm management is planning an expansion nearby and it requires to cut down all the trees nearby. I think they are not concerned with the environment and instead think about the cheap money. They have no idea that expanding above the 4th floor is much better than outside the mall.
  • I hate SM city baguio. You just cut down trees for your parking lot expansion . Such a stupid mall. remember that baguio became famous because of pine trees and its climate. Greedy people.
