  • My father Mr AN Venkataraman was there in 1983. It was the closest to heaven you could get! Company bus to take us to school ( since that's where we grew up, can think of those only, to St Patrick's in Asansol, as well as a green BEDFORD Bus/ Lorry to take us to St Mary's in Raniganj!). Oh how I miss those days! Own power, own quarters, own hospital, playground...and the river Damodar nearby. Own officer's club too! Still remember watching the first coloured broadcast, with India winning the Benson and Hedges trophy...first time in coloured clothing!!!
  • Do you know the year when the Bengal Paper Mill was established? My uncle, Bansi Dhar Kapoor was the sole selling agent for the Mill in Punjab, NWFP and Sind prior to the partition of India. Vijay Kapoor
  • The Bengal Paper Mill at Raniganj was established in 1947 and started producing paper in about 1950.
  • My father Late. Shri. S K Sengupta worked in that company for more than 20yrs, he was a forest officer in rawmaterial procurement Department (mainly Bamboo & Eucalyptus). My father worked in Assam, North East, Bihar & Bengal. I still remember the calendar of that company, what a class, but unfortunately Bangur family could not run it and company become lockout and trade union problem has caused a major industry in Bengal to collaps.
